Built for Shopify Certification — App Store Coming Soon

What does 'Built for Shopify' mean and why does it matter for AI visibility tools?

App Store coming soon.

Built for Shopify is Shopify's highest standard for ecosystem apps — and it's the kind of badge that signals real platform commitment, not marketing language. Apps that earn the Built for Shopify badge go through a structured review process covering performance, security, usability, accessibility, and ecosystem integration. Less than 10% of Shopify App Store apps currently hold the certification. RevvUp.ai is actively pursuing Built for Shopify certification with App Store listing coming soon. This page explains what the certification means, what it requires, and what you can expect from us in the interim.

In one sentence: Built for Shopify is Shopify's quality bar; RevvUp.ai is building to meet it — and we'll tell you exactly where we are in the process.

What Built for Shopify actually requires

The Built for Shopify program is Shopify's structured quality framework introduced to elevate the standard of apps in the ecosystem. The certification covers five domains:

1. Performance

2. Security

3. Usability and design

4. Ecosystem integration

5. Support and reliability

The certification is annually renewed — it's not a one-time achievement.

Where RevvUp.ai stands today

Honest accounting of where we are in the process:

Performance — Platform built with the Shopify performance bar from day one. No storefront script injection, no theme bloat. Admin API usage well-tuned and under rate limits.

Security — HTTPS-only, TLS 1.3, HMAC webhook verification, minimal OAuth scopes, no customer PII storage. SOC 2 Type II audit scheduled for 2026.

Webhook reliability — Production-grade retry, dedup, and reconciliation. See Webhook sync.

Clean uninstall — All OAuth tokens immediately revoked; cached catalog data purged within 24 hours; full purge within 30 days. Schema markup and metafields we've written remain in place (your data), with bulk-revert available on request.

App Store submission — Submitted for App Store listing in May 2026. Currently in review.

🔄 Built for Shopify badge — Pursuing. Standard timeline is 60-120 days post-App Store listing for the full review process.

🔄 Polaris alignment — Most of our admin-adjacent UI follows Polaris patterns; remaining surfaces are being aligned ahead of full certification submission.

🔄 Public status page — Live but not yet publicly linked from marketing site; will be linked at App Store launch.

We'll update this page as each milestone is achieved. The honest version: as of mid-2026 we're operating with the technical standards Built for Shopify requires, but the formal badge is still in process.

Why this matters for you

Three reasons the certification status is worth tracking:

1. Trust in early-stage platforms. Adopting a platform that handles your Shopify data should require confidence in their engineering and security practices. Built for Shopify is one independent signal of that quality (auditing by Shopify itself rather than self-attested by us). While we're pre-certification, we operate by the same standards we'll be audited against — and we'll tell you exactly where we are.

2. App Store discoverability. When the App Store listing goes live, you'll be able to install RevvUp.ai through the standard Shopify App Store experience (search → install → OAuth). This matters less for early Design Partners (who install via direct OAuth) but matters for the broader rollout.

3. Ecosystem co-marketing. Built for Shopify apps appear in Shopify's curated lists, get featured at Shopify Editions and Unite, and benefit from co-marketing with Shopify's broader partner ecosystem. As we earn certification, our visibility (and through that, our scale and pricing power) grows alongside Shopify's. That benefits our customers.

Status updates

This section reflects the latest certification status, refreshed as milestones hit:

Timelines are estimates based on Shopify's published review SLAs and may shift. Status updates here will reflect actual milestones, not projections, as they hit.

What about the Shopify Partner Directory?

Beyond the App Store listing and Built for Shopify badge, RevvUp.ai is being listed in the Shopify Partner Directory for the Shopify Plus partner ecosystem. The Partner Directory is where Shopify Plus customers find vetted apps and service providers for their builds — separate from the App Store and important for enterprise discoverability. Partner Directory listing is in progress alongside the App Store work.

Run a free RevvUp.ai audit — direct OAuth available now, App Store install coming as soon as the listing goes live.

Questions

Yes. Direct OAuth install is available now and works identically to App Store install from a security and permissions standpoint. The only difference is the discovery surface — App Store listing makes us findable in the standard Shopify App Store search. See Two-click OAuth for the install flow.
App Store listing is the basic Shopify App Store presence — your app is searchable and installable through the standard merchant flow. Built for Shopify is the higher quality certification on top of App Store listing — fewer than 10% of App Store apps currently hold it, and the audit covers performance, security, usability, accessibility, and ecosystem integration in significantly more depth.
Yes. Existing direct-OAuth installs continue to work without interruption when the App Store listing goes live. The OAuth tokens, your data, and your platform configuration carry over with no migration work.
SOC 2 Type II audit is scheduled for 2026. In the interim, we operate by SOC 2 controls and standards but haven't yet completed the formal audit. For enterprise customers with strict compliance requirements, we share our security documentation and current control posture upon request.
The technical standards we operate by today don't change based on the certification outcome — they're the standards we built the platform on. Certification is the formal acknowledgement of those standards by Shopify; we'd pursue any necessary remediation if specific gaps were identified, but the user-facing operating posture remains the same regardless of badge status.
This page will be updated as each milestone is hit (and we'll mark missed targets honestly when they happen). For status of the platform itself (uptime, performance, incident history), the public status page will be linked from the marketing site once App Store listing is live.
